Using the Bible

Saint Catherine's University

Saint Catherine’s University

Carrying the 25 pound Bible to the altar is not something we’ve done yet, but this image of the event at Saint Catherine’s University is an inspiration to us.  For our part, we have been touring guests and extending library hours to make the exhibit of the Saint John’s Bible available for view to those who attended this years Dinner Rally 2013 including the President’s Circle Reception.

On October 25th the Special Collections team will host guests from The International Society of Bible Collectors and SCATLA (Southern California Theological Library Association) in an effort to show the Saint John’s Bible in the context of our own Special Collections.  Carrying the Gospels & Acts out of the Vault to join the Pentateuch volume that is on exhibit in the Darling Library Rotunda is one example of how we are working with classroom faculty from the English, Art, and Theology Departments to introduce the Saint John’s Bible to our students.
